In Thailand, storytelling has long been a quiet thread woven through generations. Many Thai tales began as folk stories — passed down by word of mouth, shaped by local wisdom, and shared in village gatherings or family circles. Today, many of these stories have been lovingly collected, written down, and published, allowing them to reach new readers across time.

One example is Phra Aphai Mani, a poetic epic by Sunthorn Phu, written over a hundred years ago. In this tale, the hero’s weapon is not a sword, but a magical flute. The story features a giantess in love, a mermaid, and a journey across lands and emotions — unlike anything found in Western fairy tales.

As a storyteller living in today’s world, I’ve often wondered: If we can respectfully translate timeless tales from other cultures for Thai readers… Why not share Thai folk tales with the world, too?

This section of the website is my quiet attempt to do just that.
